memory, and emotional presence.

Rooted in the Midwestern landscape, her paintings combine intuitive mark-making, texture, and transparent layers to reflect

the quiet strength of everyday life and the depth of human connection.

“I paint the space between what is visible and what is felt. Each painting is an invitation to pause—to encounter stillness, strength, and something deeply familiar.”

Her work is held in private and corporate

collections.

 About the Artist

I believe art has the ability to reach beyond what we see and connect us to something deeper—a memory, a story, a moment of reflection, or a sense of hope.

My work is rooted in storytelling. Whether I am working in mixed media, or experimenting with unexpected materials, I am drawn to subjects that carry meaning. Faces, figures, wildlife, texture, light, and symbolic elements become ways of exploring resilience, faith, heritage, transformation, and the human spirit.

My background in design and visual communication has shaped the way I approach composition, but the heart of my work is much more intuitive. I enjoy the tension between careful craftsmanship and expressive freedom—between controlling the materials and allowing the work to reveal something I hadn’t anticipated. Ultimately, I want to create more than an image. I want each piece to carry a sense of presence and story—to invite the viewer to pause, look a little longer, and perhaps discover something that connects with their own experience.

  About the Artist

Sarah Labs is the artist behind Burrito + Shug Creative Studio. Working primarily in acrylic paint and mixed media, she moves between traditional materials and digital techniques to create colorful, layered work that celebrates the imperfect evidence of the artist’s hand. Her creative practice also extends into illustration, teaching, and licensed fabric design with Timeless Treasures Fabrics. Inspired by nature, animals, childhood wonder, and the small moments of everyday life, her work is rooted in curiosity, storytelling, and play.

Following Curiosity I rarely know exactly where a painting is going when I begin, and that’s part of what I love about making art. I build through layers—paint, pencil, collage, scribbles, drips, texture, and whatever else the piece seems to be asking for. I love the moment when I stop trying to control the outcome and start responding to what’s happening on the surface.

I want my work to feel unmistakably made by a human. I’m drawn to the wonky line, visible brushstroke, torn edge, and unexpected mark that gives a piece its personality. For me, making art is about staying curious, playing, noticing the little things, and leaving room for something unexpected to happen.

Jon Summers is a visual artist and painter working in Omaha, Nebraska. He holds a

BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute.

His paintings depict a response to the

relationship between space, texture and color in nature. His vibrant canvases incorporate bold color, strong lines and complex layers. Jon’s work is very process-oriented. His hope is that viewers are drawn into his uniquely reimagined landscapes in a way that feels familiar yet undefined.

Capturing Change

Inspiration comes to me through observation. My paintings are based on sights, sounds as they relate to the landscape. My beginning thought is then enhanced by the act of creating. Rather than feeling bound by an idea, I’m always excited by the way the process gives life to my original vision.
